Shiatsu, meaning "finger pressure" in Japanese, is a form of bodywork rooted in traditional Chinese medicine principles. Performed clothed, often on a mat, the practitioner uses their fingers, thumbs, palms, and sometimes elbows and knees to apply rhythmic pressure to specific acupressure points along the body's meridians (energy pathways). The goal is to stimulate the flow of "Ki" (life force energy), alleviating blockages and restoring balance within the body. Shiatsu aims to address a wide range of conditions, from stress and anxiety to muscular pain and digestive issues, promoting deep relaxation and overall well-being.
